Sean's Ladybird Goes Shopping

"Art by Sean Teh, age 6 (Penang, Malaysia)"

"What's this Ladybird doing", I asked Sean, our little Picasso (his nickname by a fan, the other Aunty M).

"He's shopping", replied Sean, matter-of-factly.

"To where?", I asked.

"Gone to Queensbay to shop", Sean replied matter-of-factly.

"Huh? Up in space?", came my adult response.

"Yes", Sean replied matter-of-factly.

So that's that.

The Magical Hairbrush

Written by Sarah K (age 13) from Perak, Malaysia

Zomann, the dark wizard of the cold north suddenly appeared before Coan and swept him off to adventure with his fiery rod. They landed on a bed of trampled reed grass.

Coan got up, regained his composure and said, "Who are you and why am I here?".

Zomann replied, "I'm looking for my magical hairbrush. I think you know where it is. Are you willing to help me?".

"May I know who you are first?" said Coan feeling very impatient.

"Yes, of course. I am Zomann, the dark wizard from Dilly Dally Valley. As you can see, I'm in my towel because during your time travel here, I took a bath. Now that I've told you my name, will you help me?"

"Yes," replied Coan.

So, they ventured off miles away from Dilly Dalley Valley and into the woods of Polnudk. As they passed through, they saw green glowing eyes in the misty fog.

Coan crept closer to Zomann and whispered, "Are you sure this is safe?".

"Sure, I go through here all the time," Zomann boasted.

Then suddenly, a gust of strong wind blew onto their faces. "Roar!" shouted a creature from the cave.

"Is that you, Bearzo?" Zomann asked excitedly.

"Zomann, is that you?" said the creature harshly.

"I want you to met my friend, Coan."

"Hi," said Bearzo happily. "Sorry, I didn't know that you are looking for your hairbrush. I gave it to the sand witch because she has hair and you don't."

"No hair? How could this be?" said Zomann surprised.

And so, they went home sadly. Coan was sent home. During Zomann's free time, he would invent potions to grow his hair back so that he can get his hairbrush back.

The end.

Hi Sarah,
What an interesting story! I think Zomann will take a long time to succeed in inventing the potion for growing hair. Why? Because he's from Dilly Dalley Valley! Ha ha ha.

Ben 10

Written by Goh Kai Hen, age 7, from Penang, Malaysia.

I love BEN 10. BEN 10 can turn into Aliens by using his omitrix.

His job is to fight the bad guys to protect the earth. He is a hero.

I got collections of BEN 10’s Aliens; they are Diamond Head, Four Arms, Heat Blast, Wildmutt, Ben Wolf, Grey Mattel, Benjimen and his dog.

I play with all of them every night, put them back the way I decorate besides my bed, and I hate when my sister touched it and did not put it back the way I decorate.

The end.

Hi Kai Hen,
Thank you for sharing your story with KW4K. You do have a large collection of Ben 10's! Sometimes I wonder where Ben 10's creator gets all those fantastic ideas on what kind of aliens Ben 10 can transform into. Do you know where those ideas come from? If you do, just write in the comments box below. ...Aunty M

A Story about My Hamster

Written by Goh Ying Xuan, age 9, from Penang, Malaysia

I have a small female hamster. Since she looks so cute, I decided to name her “Cutie”.
She is fun to play with but some bad news would come, my father always troubles me to get rid of my hamster. After few months, I really had to be apart from my hamster. And all I can remember now is the photo we last taken when I was carrying my hamster Cutie. I miss her very much.

Hello Ying Xuan,
Thank you for your story about Cutie. I know how you feel because we had a cute hamster a few years ago too. She was white as snow so we called her "Snowy". After a while, we had to give her away. Snowy is now living happily in my friend's home with lots of space for her to run about.
With love, Aunty M

Life Under the Sea

Sarah K, our 13-year old resident artist and writer put her creativity to work after she watched Nemo, the movie. She drew this picture five (?) years ago when she was 8.

Fish - inspired by Nemo (2)
(double-click picture to enlarge and read the text bubbles)

Sea creatures that talk? Grown-ups would say this is impossible. Perhaps, they may even say we are being silly. But, friends of KW4K know better, right? Just look at the wonderful chatter happening in Sarah's drawing. Even the fish skeleton had something to say.

Hmmm.....which of you (and I am refering to present and future friends of KW4K) can write your story based on this drawing of "Life Under the Sea". Anyone like to try? Click here to submit your story.

The Pirate's 'Treasure'

Written by blogger CKT (age 12).

Once upon a time, a pirate found a treasure map floating on the ocean. He grab the treasure map and examine it.

"Arr...I must find the treasure!" he said.

He followed the map and sailed across the seven seas. He faced fierce waves and huge storms bravely.

Finally, he reached the island. He saw an ancient temple. He lit a torch and walked into the dark temple.

He walked into a big chamber. Inside the chamber was piles and piles of gold! Smiling, he walked forward and scooped a handful of gold.

Rumble!

He looked up. The temple was collapsing!

He ran as fast as he could.

CRASH!

When the pirate arrived at England, he took a quill and wrote a book about his adventure and in less than a year he became a millionaire.

Orca to the Rescue!

Written by Sarah K in 2008 when she was 12 years old.

One sunny morning, Danny went to the beach to go swimming. While walkig, he saw a sign board saying "Beware of Shark". He ignored it because he really loved swimming.

He finally reached the beach, took off his shirt and jumped in the shallow park of the water with glee. After that, he started to swim out into open waters. Suddenly, he saw something lurking behind him.

"Aaagh!!!" he screamed with fright. He flew up high in the air and landed with a splash. It wasn't a shark. It was a killer whale!

It didn't want to attack Danny. It just wanted to play. It looked like it just wanted to be friends with Danny.

So, they decided to swim really far from shore. They swam and they swam and after swimming a few miles away, they decided to stop at a little island called Kikoluko. Sarah's striped fish Kids, does this fish look like Orca the whale? If not, would you like to send me your picture of what you think Orca should look like?

Tired and exhausted, they finally reached the island. After Danny got of the whale's back, he said, "Wait for me while I explore the island." After a few hours exploring the island, the whale took Danny back home.

When Danny jumped off the whale's back, he fell into the water. Suddenly, a terrifying shark grabbed Danny on his leg. The whale turned and flung the shark high in the air. Bleeding, the whale pushed Danny back to shore.

After a few minutes, the ambulance arrived.

Danny was saved thanks to his best friend. After a few weeks, Danny came back to swim with the whale again.

The end.

Hooray! It's School Holidays Again :-)

School exams are over and its holiday time again. Is this the time when your parents allow you a little bit more time on your computer? I bet it is!

While you're on the PC, why don't we do something useful together? Let's call this a partnership (something like a deal) between you and KW4K.

Here are some things you can help me with:
  1. Ever heard of Mattie Stepanek? He was a gifted child who has written many poems. 'Google' Mattie Stepanek and let us know what you have found out about him. Just send in a brief special report by typing them in the 'comments' link below or email KW4K.
  2. Make a short 2-3 min video of any interesting topic of your choice. Upload them to youtube and send the link to KW4K.
  3. Or, if you have any other cool suggestions of what you and other kids can do during the school holidays, just send them to me using the 'comments' link below.

Get started right away. If your submission is published, it may be seen and read by other kids from all over!

Meet CKT - a blogger since 10

I bet Khyeting is a fascinating 12-year old with various interests. I gathered that much from my several visits to his blog. He has also written two exciting stories entitled "The Mummy" and "Pirates in the Internet". Go check them out and let Khyeting know how you find them.

Here's his blogging experience in his own words:

Dear Aunty Madeline,

I would prefer to be addressed as CKT, thank you. I started my blog 2 years ago. I was ten when I started blogging. (You may think I am young but actually, I don't think so.) I blog about any interesting stories happening in my life or horror stories from my nightmares with a little altering, of course). Err......I don't know what my future posts will be about yet. Wait till something pops out of my brain, okay? I would like to advise other young bloggers to be creative. Never steal ideas from other people. Use your own ideas and imagination. .... Shelly, the Curious Snail

By Sarah Kubik - written when she was 12 years old. State/Country : Perak/Malaysia.
(Published 'as is'. No edits made to original)

One sunny morning, Shelly the snail came out of his shell curious of what's going to happen. He woke up with a grin on his face. After that he went to wash his face in a nearby puddle. Suddenly, while he was moving, he saw a little seed.

He wanted to eat it but the seed was germinating into a .... flower? "Wow, that's fast for a tiny seed," said Shelly excitedly. He decided to climb the flower. "Wow, I can see my house from here," said Shelly. He didn't want to fiddle around so he jumped off the flower into the puddle.

He took off his shell, left it on a rock
and jumped right into the puddle.
"Splash!"

After a few minutes, he heard some rustling sounds coming from the bush. He got up - naked. He went over to the rock where he left his shell. When he reached there, he relized his shell has gone missing.

"Aaagh!", he screamed.
He thought that if the shell was never found
he would be naked forever!!! "

But wait!", he thought, he had an idea.

If he climbed the same flower before he could find his shell. He climbed the flower, higher and higher. Finally, he reached the top. "My shell," he shouted. He jumped off and landed on his back. He glided as fast as he could. He reached his shell. He put it on and went home to tell this story to this grandma and grandpa.

The end.

How do I send in my stories or drawings?

Hi Kids

If you would like to put your stories or drawings in KW4K, here's what you need to do:
  1. Remember to get your parent's permission first.
  2. Write your story. It can be as short as 10 words as long as it tells a story. Then email to KW4K. (Or, if its a short story, just send it using the 'comment' box.)
  3. Or, if you like to draw, you can email your drawing to KW4K.
  4. Or, if you want to share your own blog of your stories, email your blog
    address to KW4K.
  5. Finally, remember to let us have your name, age, email address and
state/country you are from. We want the rest of the world to get to know you!

That's all. It's easy, right? Now, you can start sending in stuff to KW4K.

'Tofuhui' - an incredibly talented 15-year old!

I think "Tofuhui' is an incredibly talented young artist. You can find some of her beautiful art pieces on http://tofuhui.deviantart.com/.

I took a quick peek at her profile and found out that her favourite styles of art are fantasy, lianhuanhua , surrealism and renaissance. (Go find out what these words mean if you don't know them). Her favourite artists are Leonardo Da Vinci, Salvador Dali etc etc. And oh, she likes a wide range of music from classical, hard rock to new age!

Sounds like 'Tofuhui' has a sense of humour too. Just check out this art piece entitled "Art Meme Psychoticized". She will have you drawing a pufferfish (her avatar?) with your opposite hand and toes in no time!
