Rainy Day

Written by Yan, age 7, from Penang, Malaysia. "Rainy Day" is Volume 1 of Yan's "Weather Series".

*******
Once upon a time...
The weather is raining.
They are all in the rain.
Some are wearing raincoat.
Some are holding an umbrella.
Some are not wearing raincoat, and
Some are not holding umbrella.

********
Yan, thank you for the very nice story. KW4K loves it!

Hi Kids ...Did you notice the special 'raincoat' over the baby pram?
There's even a little window for the baby to watch the rain. Isn't that cool!

Watch out for more stories from Yan ;-).

Oh, in case you're wondering what Yan looks like, here's his photo.

Oops! I'm seeing double, are you?
Hmmm, I wonder how Yan did that?

QUIZ : Are we in Japan?

Hi Kids!

This is the most beautiful street in a certain state, in a certain country. It looks like a photo of a street in Japan. But, is it?

Can you guess where this is? My friend, Timothy, tells me this is a tough question to answer. Okay, okay.
How about just making a wild guess? Just click on one of the answers in the POLL to the right of this post.

Hooray! It's School Holidays Again :-)

School exams are over and its holiday time again. Is this the time when your parents allow you a little bit more time on your computer? I bet it is!

While you're on the PC, why don't we do something useful together? Let's call this a partnership (something like a deal) between you and KW4K.

Here are some things you can help me with:
  1. Ever heard of Mattie Stepanek? He was a gifted child who has written many poems. 'Google' Mattie Stepanek and let us know what you have found out about him. Just send in a brief special report by typing them in the 'comments' link below or email KW4K.
  2. Make a short 2-3 min video of any interesting topic of your choice. Upload them to youtube and send the link to KW4K.
  3. Or, if you have any other cool suggestions of what you and other kids can do during the school holidays, just send them to me using the 'comments' link below.

Get started right away. If your submission is published, it may be seen and read by other kids from all over!

Meet CKT - a blogger since 10

I bet Khyeting is a fascinating 12-year old with various interests. I gathered that much from my several visits to his blog. He has also written two exciting stories entitled "The Mummy" and "Pirates in the Internet". Go check them out and let Khyeting know how you find them.

Here's his blogging experience in his own words:

Dear Aunty Madeline,

I would prefer to be addressed as CKT, thank you. I started my blog 2 years ago. I was ten when I started blogging. (You may think I am young but actually, I don't think so.) I blog about any interesting stories happening in my life or horror stories from my nightmares with a little altering, of course). Err......I don't know what my future posts will be about yet. Wait till something pops out of my brain, okay? I would like to advise other young bloggers to be creative. Never steal ideas from other people. Use your own ideas and imagination. .... Shelly, the Curious Snail

By Sarah Kubik - written when she was 12 years old. State/Country : Perak/Malaysia.
(Published 'as is'. No edits made to original)

One sunny morning, Shelly the snail came out of his shell curious of what's going to happen. He woke up with a grin on his face. After that he went to wash his face in a nearby puddle. Suddenly, while he was moving, he saw a little seed.

He wanted to eat it but the seed was germinating into a .... flower? "Wow, that's fast for a tiny seed," said Shelly excitedly. He decided to climb the flower. "Wow, I can see my house from here," said Shelly. He didn't want to fiddle around so he jumped off the flower into the puddle.

He took off his shell, left it on a rock
and jumped right into the puddle.
"Splash!"

After a few minutes, he heard some rustling sounds coming from the bush. He got up - naked. He went over to the rock where he left his shell. When he reached there, he relized his shell has gone missing.

"Aaagh!", he screamed.
He thought that if the shell was never found
he would be naked forever!!! "

But wait!", he thought, he had an idea.

If he climbed the same flower before he could find his shell. He climbed the flower, higher and higher. Finally, he reached the top. "My shell," he shouted. He jumped off and landed on his back. He glided as fast as he could. He reached his shell. He put it on and went home to tell this story to this grandma and grandpa.

The end.

How do I send in my stories or drawings?

Hi Kids

If you would like to put your stories or drawings in KW4K, here's what you need to do:
  1. Remember to get your parent's permission first.
  2. Write your story. It can be as short as 10 words as long as it tells a story. Then email to KW4K. (Or, if its a short story, just send it using the 'comment' box.)
  3. Or, if you like to draw, you can email your drawing to KW4K.
  4. Or, if you want to share your own blog of your stories, email your blog
    address to KW4K.
  5. Finally, remember to let us have your name, age, email address and
state/country you are from. We want the rest of the world to get to know you!

That's all. It's easy, right? Now, you can start sending in stuff to KW4K.
